(PRWEB) April 18, 2005 -- AirPet Hotel (APH) is celebrating its first year in business on March 15, 2005 after having served thousands of dogs, cats, and yes, even a pig. Their first year saw an expansion from twenty-four kennels and 4 play areas, on opening day, to the current one hundred kennels, five indoor and four outdoor play areas. The community has recognized APH for their unique business concept.

Willamette Week voted APH as the number one "Doggy Dash" Kennel in its 2004 Best Of Portland issue for its convenient location near Portland International Airport, proximity to airport parking and shuttle service, 24-7 drop-off/pick-up policy, and the unique opportunity for your pet to play during its stay. For its “out-of-the-box thinking,” KGW TV featured APH for their evening news business segment in March 2004. “There’s a new hotel in town, and it’s not for people, but for your pet.” News of AirPet Hotel’s friendly service and convenient hours has found its way into the Oregonian Pet Talk section, and other newspapers such as Camas–Washougal Post-Record. After installing an infrared heating system for the dogs, APH was commended by the Portland Business Journal for its “environmental step forward to high efficiency energy savings.” This high efficiency heating system caught the attention of Good Day Oregon FOX 12. Andy Carson, meteorologist, came in out of the wet and cold to broadcast the weather live from APH in January 2005.

AirPet Hotel is a major sponsor of the Hazeldale Dog Park in Aloha, Oregon. APH pays half of the off-leash park’s lease. At Christmas time, APH collected pet food donations for local animal shelters.

Many grateful customers comment on AirPet Hotel’s convenient hours. Their familiar refrain: “Why hasn’t this been done before?” APH is not only a forerunner in service, but is constantly on the lookout for innovations that save travelers time and make their pets’ visit a “dog-gone” good time.
